Moss is hiring a Head of Engineering to lead engineering for one of its product tribes, based in Berlin. The role combines deep people leadership, directly managing 15 to 20 engineers with no management layer beneath you, with real technical engagement on system architecture and delivery. You report to the CTO and sit in a tribe leadership trio alongside the Product Tribe Lead and Design Lead, owning hiring, development, delivery outcomes and the tribe's operating rhythm. Moss is a Berlin-founded fintech unicorn building a Finance AI platform for European mid-sized businesses.

Обязанности

Own feasibility and delivery outcomes and velocity for the whole tribe
Manage 15 to 20 direct reports: hiring, onboarding, expectations, feedback, development and compensation recommendations
Own performance management and the tough calls that keep talent density high
Challenge estimates and technical proposals from engineers across squads
Provide roadmap and planning input through a feasibility lens as part of the tribe trio
Set the operating rhythm for planning, estimating, tracking and reporting delivery
Allocate capacity and move engineers between squads to put best people on the most impactful work
Align proactively with peer Heads of Engineering and platform and architecture owners

Требования

4 to 6+ years in engineering management with direct reports at a meaningful span
Hands-on hiring, performance management and difficult conversations, not through a layer of managers
Senior or staff-level engineering background with current system design judgement
Strong systems design: reading architecture, spotting where it breaks and arguing an alternative
Ability to tell a 2-week estimate from a 6-week one and explain why
Comfort as a technical peer to product leadership in roadmap and scope debates
Building practices that make 15 to 20 direct reports work without a middle layer
Reasoning quickly in unfamiliar technical domains and contributing before deep prior expertise
Experience with mature engineering practices: code review, testing, incident handling, planning and estimation
Plus: background at an AI product company or in ERP / financial systems
Plus: experience leading in a flat or tribe/squad-style organisation
Plus: experience with a Tech Lead / Engineering Manager split
