A growing UK technology company that builds software to protect and manage the industrial systems behind critical national infrastructure is hiring a senior Software Engineer in Test. The role covers owning testing for a distributed platform built predominantly in Go, building automation from scratch and integrating it into the development and CI/CD process. It is office-based in South West London, five days a week initially, with a £60,000–£70,000 salary plus bonus potential and the possibility of one or two days working from home once established.

Обязанности

Take full ownership of software testing across the distributed platform
Turn system and user requirements into meaningful test coverage
Design system, integration and automated tests that exercise the product as a whole
Build and improve automation from scratch and decide what should be automated
Create repeatable tests and integrate them properly into development and CI/CD
Investigate failures, isolate the issue and find the root cause with developers
Test platform behaviour with real edge devices and environments in the on-site lab
Influence the wider test strategy, CI/CD pipeline, test environments and vulnerability scanning
Act as guardian of the product, tracking risks and gaps and improving the quality approach

Требования

Strong experience with system and integration testing, including API testing
Scripting or programming ability to automate those tests effectively
Previously taken ownership of testing for a complex software product
Experience creating automation from scratch rather than maintaining someone else's suite
Turning requirements into clear test specifications, coverage and acceptance criteria
Experience with Playwright or equivalent automation frameworks
Hands-on experience with CI/CD and GitHub Actions
Experience with Docker, Docker Compose or containerised test environments
Experience testing microservices or distributed systems
Comfortable reading Go code and understanding how services interact, without being a Go developer
Proactive communication, questioning requirements and challenging assumptions
Curiosity to look beyond the happy path and uncover edge cases
