Description

Spendesk is hiring a Software Engineering Manager for the Travel & Expense squad within the Spend Management area. The role combines people leadership of a cross-functional team of fullstack and mobile engineers with technical guidance on architecture, reliability, security and integrations. You own team objectives, KPIs and SLOs and drive the roadmap together with a Product Manager, Product Designer and Tech Leader. The position is hybrid across Barcelona, London and Paris.

Responsibilities

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of approximately 10 software engineers
Set goals and implement the Travel & Expense roadmap together with Product Manager, Product Designer, and Tech Leader
Plan work quarterly in two-week iterations
Improve customer experience in travel, hotel booking, expense approval, reimbursement requests, miles, per diems, compensation, and compliance
Guide architecture and integrations with travel providers, cards, payments, invoices, accounting, identity, and security services
Maintain high standards for code quality, testing, security, observability, SLO, incident response, and production responsibility
Build an autonomous, customer-oriented team with measurable outcomes
Participate in migrating the platform to a service architecture designed with the hexagonal pattern

Requirements

Experience in leading, mentoring, and developing a team of approximately 10 engineers
Experience in people management: feedback, performance evaluation, employee growth, hiring, and onboarding
Technical leadership in architecture, reliability, security, and code quality
Experience in leading integrations with travel providers, cards, payments, invoices, accounting, identity, and security services
High standards for testing, observability, SLO, and incident response
Experience with service architecture and the hexagonal pattern approach
Experience working with a cross-functional team of fullstack and mobile engineers
Proficiency in English for communication and documentation in an international team
