Description

Expert Android Engineer to lead development of Design System components for mobile applications at Roche. The role involves architecting, developing, and maintaining reusable UI components using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose, with a focus on accessibility and testing. Based in Vienna or Sant Cugat, part of a unified Design System for digital healthcare products.

Responsibilities

Architect, develop, and maintain Design System components and interaction patterns for mobile
Write and review clean, testable, scalable code aligned with best practices
Maintain code quality through automated testing, code review, and continuous integration pipelines
Provide technical assessment for design component development ensuring customer-centric approach
Participate in creating architecture for Mobile Applications consistent with platform strategies
Collaborate with Design and Development teams to align on goals and business outcomes
Ensure documentation on Mobile Components and support adoption in the mobile community
Work with Roche clients to establish collaboration and solve doubts
Champion adoption of Design System with clients and Usability Engineers
Brainstorm improvements and propose innovative solutions for community engagement
Evaluate new technologies, patterns, and frameworks for potential adoption
Contribute to design review, prototypes, and mobile user experience standards
Create documentation for AI agents to enable vibe coding with the library
Create test applications using vibe coding to ensure compatibility with AI
Document all components in Figma code connect

Requirements

Android Developer experience for at least 5 years
Expert in Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, and Git
Experience with Material Design 3 and Design Systems in general
Strong experience building reusable, testable, composable UI components
Proficiency in writing unit tests, screenshot tests, and Compose UI tests
Deep knowledge of accessibility best practices in Jetpack Compose
RTL knowledge for internationalization
