Description
The Expert IT Engineer Backend Platform plays a key role in developing, managing, and securing backend platforms at Van Lanschot Kempen. The focus is on Azure infrastructure services while ensuring reliable management of on-premises systems during the transition. The engineer takes ownership, leads improvements, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to maintain platform stability and security.
Responsibilities
Lead and improve management, security, and development of backend platforms
Handle and coordinate complex technical incidents with structural improvements
Initiate and perform lifecycle management, patch, and security improvement activities
Design, build, and improve platform solutions based on standards and guidelines
Automate management tasks and recurring work with tools like PowerShell and DevOps pipelines
Actively contribute to monitoring, alerting, documentation, and platform manageability
Collaborate with architects, security teams, and other platform teams
Coach and support colleagues with technical questions and quality improvements
Contribute to team and departmental initiatives on infrastructure, security, and cloud
Contribute to cost-aware and future-oriented platform management
Participate in on-call services and work outside regular service windows when needed
Requirements
Broad experience with managing and improving Windows Server platforms and hybrid infrastructures
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure and modern platform services
Hands-on experience with Active Directory, SCOM, SCCM, and on-premises technologies
Experience with scripting and automation, preferably PowerShell
Ability to work with Azure DevOps and help others with pipelines and release processes
Proven experience with lifecycle management, patching, hardening, and security improvements
Analytical, technically strong, and able to connect with people
Good communication skills in English
Proactive attitude with ownership over platform quality and continuity
Conditions
Hybrid way of working with flexible hours
32-40 hours per week
Gross monthly salary between €6000 and €7000
Additional flexible budget of 19.47% of gross salary
27 vacation days including 7 from flexible budget
1 month fully paid sabbatical for 3 months or longer
Commute allowance and home office allowance
Ability to work up to 2 months per year from abroad
Pension contribution of approximately 20% with 4% own contribution
