Description

Join the Guardian's Apps Experience team to build and maintain the award‑winning iOS app. You will work primarily with Swift and SwiftUI, occasionally touching legacy Objective‑C code. The role offers a collaborative environment with product managers, designers, and engineers, and encourages innovation through regular hack days.

Responsibilities

Build and test major new features for the Guardian iOS app.
Improve and maintain existing functionality and UI components.
Review peers’ code to ensure high standards and consistency.
Contribute to technical discussions and evolve architecture and engineering practices.
Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers on user experience.
Participate in regular hack days and innovate new functionalities such as widgets.
Deliver features from design through release with ownership of scoped work.

Requirements

Developing iOS applications using Swift, SwiftUI, and UIKit.
Strong understanding of modern iOS development and Apple core frameworks.
Ability to deliver well‑scoped features independently from design to release.
Experience reviewing code and maintaining high code quality standards.
Familiarity with architectural discussions and collaborative product decision‑making.
Working knowledge of Objective‑C for occasional legacy code maintenance.
Collaborative mindset working closely with product managers, designers, and engineers.
Optional knowledge of Kotlin, Scala, or Typescript is a plus.

Conditions

Hybrid work model: 1 day in office, 4 days remote per week.
Salary starts at £62,000 per year with transparent band.
