Description
Allegro is looking for a Junior Data Scientist to join its Marketplace organization in Warsaw. The role involves building ML models for product mapping quality, creating AI agents for market trend detection, and delivering data-driven solutions from concept to productization. The team works with large-scale e-commerce data on GCP, collaborating closely with data engineers, product managers, and business stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Creating data science projects at each stage from concept to productization to deliver models solving complex business problems
Developing ML models to monitor and continuously improve the quality of product mappings for key internal processes
Working with diverse data modalities including tabular data, natural language text, product metadata, and time series
Building and experimenting with AI Agents designed to detect market trends and feed actionable intelligence into partner-support workflows
Identifying and building curated lists of market-relevant products crucial for buyers and platform competitiveness
Developing advanced data science solutions and predictive insights to empower business teams and drive strategic decision-making
Working hand-in-hand with Data Engineers who support data pipeline heavy-lifting on GCP
Cooperating closely with cross-functional stakeholders including business teams, product managers, data engineers, and analysts
Requirements
Foundational experience or academic background in classical ML/DS solutions such as regression, classification, clustering, and time series
Data analysis using SQL with ability to write cost-efficient queries, aggregate data, and create clear reports or visualizations
Understanding of classical ML algorithms, their strengths and weaknesses, and basic hyperparameter tuning techniques
Ability to evaluate model performance using statistical metrics and diagnose basic data and mapping quality issues
Capability of ingesting, validating, and transforming tabular data and product metadata into features ready for modeling
Ability to map business challenges such as product relevance, mapping accuracy, and trend detection into analytical or modeling problems
Clean Python code following standards and best practices with awareness of basic testing such as unit tests and cloud cost optimization
Practical and theoretical knowledge of Generative AI and Agentic AI principles including prompting, validation, and agent workflows
Enthusiastic use of AI-assisted coding tools such as Copilot to accelerate daily work
Clear and proactive communication presenting findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders
English and Polish at a B2+ level or higher
Degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, Physics or similar quantitative field or early-career experience in Data Science or Data Analytics
