Description

Lead Software Engineer in Frontend Engineering (React Native) at JPMorgan Chase's International Consumer Bank, working on Chase UK digital bank. The role is within a flat-structure organization building the bank of the end-to-end cloud-native microservices architecture applications. Responsibilities span the full SDLC lifecycle including architecture design, feature delivery, mentoring junior developers, and driving adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices across the team.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features
Create and maintain clean, efficient, and reusable codebase
Conduct thorough testing to ensure robustness and reliability of applications
Troubleshoot and debug issues, ensuring smooth application functionality
Communicate effectively with stakeholders to gather requirements and provide progress updates
Mentor junior developers, providing guidance on best practices and code reviews
Stay updated with the latest industry trends and best practices in mobile development
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance development processes and workflows
Drive team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices to improve code quality and delivery speed
Deliver end-to-end cutting-edge solutions in cloud-native microservices architecture applications

Requirements

Formal training or certification on JavaScript concepts with proficient advanced experience
Strong knowledge of JavaScript, TypeScript, and ES6+ syntax
Ability to write testable, clean JavaScript code
Familiarity with writing unit tests
Ability to work in a dynamic, agile environment within a geographically distributed team
Ability to focus on promptly addressing customer needs
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Demonstrated experience leading effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools for coding, code review, test acceleration, and troubleshooting
Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows including data sensitivity and secure handling
Proficiency in React framework
Experience building applications using React Native in TypeScript or JavaScript
Native application development across Android/iOS in Kotlin/Swift
Understanding of REST APIs and GraphQL
Extensive experience in modern web development including responsive design and performance optimization
Hands-on experience with design systems, component libraries, and implementing consistent UI/UX across large-scale applications
End-to-end testing applications with Detox/Appium/WebdriverIO/Playwright
