Description

Postdoc position focusing on enhancing multimodal world models with commonsense abstraction and reasoning using neurosymbolic methods. Funded by NWO AiNed project and involves collaboration with supervisors at VU Amsterdam and UvA.

Responsibilities

Show independence in achieving research goals and collaborate with and supervise PhD students
Invent, evaluate, and describe novel techniques for multimodal abstraction and reasoning
Publish and present research at international conferences, workshops, and journals
Actively participate in the research community and collaborate internationally
Contribute to teaching activities such as lectures and supervising students
Develop portfolio and vision for future academic career

Requirements

PhD in Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing, Neurosymbolic AI, or related area
Ability to invent and evaluate novel algorithms and present them orally and in writing
Record of publishing in high-quality conferences or journals in relevant fields
Eagerness to tackle challenges in multimodality, abstraction, commonsense reasoning, and neurosymbolic world models
Ability to implement and evaluate methods using Python deep learning toolkits
Effective teamwork and communication in written and spoken English

Conditions

Salary range €3,706 to €5,760 gross per month
Full-time 2-year contract
38-hour working week with 232 hours holiday leave per year
8% holiday allowance and 8.3% end-of-year bonus
