Description
A global AI-centric technology solutions provider builds AI-powered digital products and platforms for clients. The team is hiring a Product Designer to own and evolve Index, the core design system, along with its Figma libraries and documentation. The role is hybrid and based in Barcelona, with close collaboration with engineering and product teams.
Responsibilities
Build and refine components for Index, the core design system
Improve existing components to handle edge cases, accessibility requirements, and multi-brand applications
Maintain and organize Figma libraries so they are structured, documented, and easy to use
Create clear documentation explaining when and how to use components correctly
Work with design tokens and Figma variables to support theming and multi-brand needs
Help bridge the core design system and product-area extensions so patterns flow appropriately
Partner with engineering on design-to-code alignment so Figma matches what gets built
Work independently while staying connected to the core team through async collaboration
Maintain high craft standards with precision and consistency
Requirements
4+ years of product design experience, with meaningful time on design systems
Portfolio demonstrating design systems work: components, documentation, or established patterns
Strong Figma skills including component architecture, variants, auto-layout, and variables
Experience with design tokens and how they enable theming, consistency, and multi-brand support
Solid understanding of design fundamentals: typography, spacing, color, and interaction patterns
Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) and how they apply to component design
Strong documentation skills to create guidelines people actually read and follow
Ability to work independently and manage own priorities with proactive communication
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Design, HCI, or related field
Understanding of how design systems connect to code (CSS, React component APIs)
Experience with design system versioning and contribution workflows
Familiarity with multi-brand or white-label design system challenges
Experience working with distributed or fully remote teams
Background in news media, publishing, or content-heavy products
Knowledge of design system tooling beyond Figma (Storybook, Zeroheight)
