Description

BostonGene Technologies is seeking a Senior NGS Bioinformatics Scientist to lead complex oncology-focused next-generation sequencing and multi-omics analyses. The role carries scientific ownership and decision-making authority in multi-omics oncology studies. The ideal candidate has deep expertise in bioinformatics workflows, molecular oncology, and regulatory-compliant reporting. The position is based in Yerevan with a hybrid work format and includes a comprehensive relocation package.

Responsibilities

Own the full scientific lifecycle of complex oncology studies: clarify scope, formulate analytical hypotheses, design study plans, define QC expectations, and deliver publication-ready results
Lead integrative analysis of multi-omics data (WGS/WES, RNA-seq, scRNA-seq, TCR/BCR, methylation and related modalities)
Participate in and lead collaborations with external academic and clinical institutions across the United States
Collaborate closely with internal Pipeline Development and Engineering teams on analytical specifications and workflow requests
Critically evaluate new bioinformatics tools, algorithms, and published methodologies; benchmark and adapt promising approaches for internal and client-facing projects
Represent the department externally: prepare scientific documentation, conference abstracts, and manuscript-ready materials
Ensure analytical rigor, reproducibility, and proper documentation in alignment with GCLP/CAP regulatory standards
Mentor junior and mid-level bioinformaticians, provide structured scientific feedback, and elevate overall team expertise
Prepare SoWs and change requests; resolve scope, expectation, or timeline discrepancies

Requirements

M.Sc. or PhD in Bioinformatics, Data Science, Computer Science, Computational Biology, Biostatistics, or a related discipline
3+ years of hands-on experience in NGS and multi-omics data analysis, with at least 1 year of experience managing analytical projects or coordinating cross-functional studies
Strong proficiency in Python and R; basic Bash skills
Confident user of standard NGS tools (bwa-mem, Strelka, Sequenza, STAR/STAR-Fusion, etc.)
Practical experience with Git-based version control
Solid foundation in advanced statistical methods including hypothesis testing, regression models, survival analysis, and basic machine learning approaches
Strong understanding of molecular biology and oncology including tumor biology and heterogeneity
Familiarity with GCLP/CAP guidelines for bioinformatics reporting, data traceability, and integrity standards
Ability to design, execute, and scientifically validate multi-omics workflows and interpret QC metrics
English level B2 or higher for writing manuscripts, preparing documentation, and presenting to international audiences
Participation in 3+ peer-reviewed publications involving NGS or multi-omics data is a strong plus
