Description

InnoWave is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design and implement ETL/ELT pipelines and Medallion Architecture. The role involves close collaboration with business stakeholders and technical teams, and requires strong communication skills. The position is based in Portugal and works within an international, distributed environment.

Responsibilities

Design and implement ETL/ELT data pipelines using Medallion Architecture
Work with both structured and unstructured data sources
Analyze data and generate insights to support decision‑making
Act as liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders
Translate business requirements into scalable data solutions
Develop dashboards and reports for end‑users
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams across the organization
Provide technical direction and mentor engineering teams

Requirements

Degree in Computer Science or a related field
6+ years of professional experience in Data Engineering or Software Engineering
3+ years of experience in a Technical Lead or Lead Engineer role
Strong hands‑on experience with Azure Databricks, including Delta Lake and Unity Catalog
Proficient in SQL, Python, and PySpark for data transformation and performance optimization
Solid experience with Azure DevOps, Git, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment automation
Demonstrated technical leadership, mentoring, and code review capabilities
Excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken
