Description

RIVM (National Institute for Public Health and the Environment) is seeking a Senior Network & Security DevOps Engineer to join the Basis Infra Netwerk department in Bilthoven. The role involves developing, implementing, managing and monitoring network services within a multi-tenant, multi-vendor environment built according to Dutch government standards. The team works using Agile-DevOps methodology, transitioning from manual configuration to Infrastructure as Code, automation and continuous delivery. The position includes participation in nationally significant projects such as Zero Trust micro-segmentation, WAF and Protective DNS implementation, and connecting research laboratories.

Responsibilities

Develop, implement, manage and monitor network services across the Basis Infra Netwerk department of approximately 30 engineers
Migrate to Application Centric Infrastructure in the datacenter
Work under architecture and apply Zero Trust principles across the network environment
Transition to Infrastructure as Code and automate operational management processes
Implement large-scale projects including national KNMI Meteo network for air traffic, Zero Trust micro-segmentation and secure edge
Implement WAF and Protective DNS solutions
Connect and integrate research laboratories within the new RIVM building

Requirements

7 years of work experience as Network Security Engineer or similar role
CCNP, NSE5, F5-CTS or equivalent certification, or demonstrable ability to work at that level
Deep knowledge and experience with Cisco, Fortinet, F5 or Infoblox products; F5 LTM knowledge is a plus
Knowledge and experience with network security, encryption, PKI, VPNs, firewalls, Zero Trust
Knowledge and experience with automation, scripting, and coding, Infrastructure as Code; Ansible and GitLab CI/CD experience is a plus
Experience with Agile and DevOps methodology
HBO-level work and thinking ability
Dutch language proficiency at least at B2 level

Conditions

32-36 hours per week, 4x9 schedule available
Salary range €4,132 - €6,275 gross per month based on 36-hour work week (Schaal 11)
Individueel Keuzebudget (IKB): 16.5% of gross annual salary for flexible benefits
Hybrid work: average 1-2 days per week in the office
Permanent contract (arbeidsovereenkomst voor onbepaalde tijd)
Study facilities, company fitness, full public transport reimbursement, partially paid parental leave
Stand-by duties required as part of the role
