Description

Emburse is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to design and build complex, scalable solutions for its expense management platform. The role involves leading technical initiatives, mentoring junior engineers, and collaborating with product and analytics teams. Work is based in Barcelona with a hybrid arrangement.

Responsibilities

Take personal responsibility for product quality and maintainability
Identify problems and risks in own and others' work
Follow SDLC processes, agile ceremonies, code reviews, and release preparations
Partner with product and analytics teams to define requirements
On‑board and mentor less experienced team members
Develop sophisticated software with minimal supervision
Produce quality API documentation and ensure best practices
Contribute to system design sessions and perform advanced refactoring
Provide constructive feedback and guide junior developers
Communicate complex concepts to junior staff

Requirements

Minimum 6 years professional experience in Java development
Experience with Spring, AWS, microservices, SQL, NoSQL, Git, and Linux/OS X environments
Experience designing and building RESTful JSON services and integrating third‑party APIs
Strong understanding of OOP design patterns and security of API design
Knowledge of React, React Native, JavaScript, Node.js, NPM, Webpack, and mobile development
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
