Description
CHAMP Cargosystems, a global provider of integrated IT solutions for the air cargo transport chain, is hiring a Senior Project Manager in their COO Office Delivery Department. The role involves managing the largest and most complex customer engagements across full project lifecycle with commercial accountability. The company serves over 200 airlines and 3,000 forwarders worldwide under the Cargospot and Traxon brands.
Responsibilities
Managing programs and projects throughout full life cycle from bidding and inception through closure
Building business cases and developing capacity plans for engagements
Controlling change, mitigating risks, and delivering results as committed
Tracking project activities against plan schedules and taking corrective action on deviations
Working effectively with project team members across organizational hierarchy
Proactively working with customers and their teams to ensure project goals are met with satisfaction
Documenting project activities including communications strategy plans, resource plans, status reports, and change requests
Tracking risks and issues, providing variance reports and Steering Committee reports
Taking responsibility for commercial outcome including margin, forecast to completion, revenue and cash
Building and defending estimates and resourcing basis on which customer commitments are made
Securing the partner base for engagements — resource readiness and commercial terms
Directing delivery where build and test capacity is contracted, holding suppliers to deliverables
Planning and leading transition of delivered solutions into operational support organizations
Taking over and recovering engagements in difficulty — re-baselining, resetting expectations, restoring defensible plans
Acting as escalation point for project managers — coaching, giving direct feedback, and reviewing work
Contributing lessons learned and reusable material to improve future engagement estimates
Requirements
University degree or equivalent in relevant field
Formal project management training or certification
Risk management training desirable
Track record of managing multiple projects and programs including budgets and deliverables within a commercial environment
Experience speaking in front of customers and various leadership levels
Experience with IT solutions or airline industry solutions provider
Participation in all phases of at least three full software implementation lifecycles of large projects
Experience of back-to-back subcontract terms with delivery partners
Air cargo, airline or logistics operational environment experience
Exceptional understanding of project management methodologies and project life cycle
Strong attention to detail, writing ability, and oration skills
Commercial construction understanding — how an estimate becomes a price and risk position
Financial control — forecasts to completion and variance analysis by cause
Dependency management — driving outcomes through organizations without direct authority
Executive credibility — holding standing with customer executives and product organizations simultaneously
Leadership — mentoring, coaching, and developing project managers
Resilience under commercial and customer pressure
