Description
Moderna is strengthening its international business services hub in Warsaw, supporting growing global operations in mRNA science. The Senior Software Engineer in Developer Platform Engineering will design and build secure, scalable platform capabilities that enable engineering teams to develop, deploy, and operate software efficiently. The role works across cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, automation, developer experience, and AI-assisted development to create reusable paved-road solutions that accelerate innovation.
Responsibilities
Design, build, and evolve secure developer platform capabilities using Python or TypeScript, GitHub Actions, Pulumi, Docker, and AWS
Build governed cloud development workspace capabilities including Coder, devcontainers, identity controls, secrets management, and network access
Create reusable templates, documentation, and standardized paved-road patterns for secure compliant development environments
Partner with software engineers and application teams to standardize development environments and streamline onboarding
Improve developer experience by reducing environment setup time, eliminating manual work, and standardizing engineering workflows
Build operational excellence into platform services through monitoring, alerting, dashboards, runbooks, and automation
Establish operational practices for developer platforms including service ownership, incident response, and reliability improvements
Collaborate with Cybersecurity, Infrastructure, and Enterprise Architecture teams to translate requirements into automated platform controls
Identify recurring developer pain points and transform them into reusable frameworks, platform tooling, and scalable solutions
Support governed AI-assisted software development by integrating Generative AI tools into secure environments and workflows
Work across the full lifecycle of platform engineering from architecture through CI/CD, production operations, and developer enablement
Requirements
7+ years of experience in software engineering, platform engineering, DevOps, developer tooling, or infrastructure automation
Very strong programming skills in Python or TypeScript/JavaScript
Significant experience with GitHub, GitHub Actions, CI/CD workflows, and modern software delivery practices
Significant experience with AWS or another cloud provider for deploying and managing platform services
Experience with Docker, devcontainers, containerized applications, or standardized development environments
Strong understanding of secure software development practices, software supply chain, and policy enforcement
Proven ability to design systems balancing security, standardization, usability, reliability, and developer productivity
Proven experience leading technical initiatives with cross-functional stakeholders
Expert troubleshooting skills across application code, build pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and networking
Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Pulumi, CDK, or Terraform (preferred)
Experience building or operating internal developer platforms, devcontainer standards, or paved-road engineering standards (preferred)
Experience with Kubernetes, container security, secrets management, or network isolation (preferred)
Experience with artifact repositories such as JFrog Artifactory, Nexus, or GitHub Packages (preferred)
Experience enabling AI-assisted development through approved tools and governed workspace patterns (preferred)
