Description

A LegalTech company that automates contract review with AI is hiring a Legal AI Engineer to bridge customers, product, engineering, and legal. The role translates customer workflows into engineering requirements and acceptance criteria, builds and ships agent skills, playbooks, and evaluation frameworks, and turns one-off solutions into repeatable assets for Sales and Customer Success. The person also serves as the in-house legal authority on contract, security, and data protection matters for roughly ten to fifteen percent of the time.

Responsibilities

Translate customer reality into engineering requirements, specs, edge cases, and acceptance criteria
Sit in customer and expert calls alongside Sales, coaching hands-on trials and hackathons
Pull out the workflow: what happens, in what order, where it breaks, what the customer would pay to avoid
Write, test, and ship agent skills and playbooks that solve real customer workflows
Build evaluation frameworks and test sets proving they got better rather than just different
Diagnose AI failures at the prompt and context level, fixing them or handing Engineering a precise diagnosis
Turn anything built once into repeatable assets: standard demo environments, a skill library, onboarding that lands in days
Step in with legal depth for Customer Success and turn the fix into a team-owned process
Handle legal and compliance questions: contract reviews, customer security and data protection, roughly ten to fifteen percent of time

Requirements

Technical track record building and publishing software, with fluent hands-on LLM knowledge
Understanding of context window failures and why a prompt stopped working
Scripting, Git, and APIs are a strong plus
Law degree with a commercial-contracts focus: German-qualified (Bachelor, Master, or Staatsexamen) or equivalent from another jurisdiction
Hands-on experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating German commercial contracts
Commercial or entrepreneurial track record carrying responsibility for own client base, legal tech product, or company
Excellent German and English; other EU languages are a plus
Ability to prioritise by impact and decide without permission

Conditions

Flexible hybrid setup with offices in Berlin, Leipzig, and Zurich
Competitive salary and employee stock options (ESOP)
Keeping what you build public is encouraged
Side by side coaching in real customer calls from week one
