Description

A web hosting company serving 5.5 million clients across 150 countries is hiring a developer to own part of its billing platform end to end. The role covers design, release and monitoring, integrations with third-party and internal services via APIs, webhooks and events, plus code review and support for other teams. The system must stay correct, fast and reliable at scale despite late events, retries and complex pricing rules.

Responsibilities

Own a part of billing end to end, from a vague business need to design, release and monitoring
Integrate with third-party and internal services through APIs, webhooks and events
Keep integrations working when the other side changes
Work with other teams regularly, answering questions and helping them with billing
Review code and use your experience to influence how other people build things
Keep the system up to date, revisiting old code and processes often

Requirements

Strong PHP with a solid command of OOP and design patterns
Hands-on experience with REST APIs, SQL, queues and event-driven systems
Able to explain a complex problem or a trade-off clearly in writing and conversation
You think in terms of architecture, how domains fit together and where the boundaries should be
You write unit and integration tests as a normal part of your work
You have worked on a large system in production, ideally one you were on call for
You expect to defend your decisions when they are challenged

Conditions

Flexibility to work from modern offices, home or anywhere in the world
Freedom in managing your schedule in a fast-paced environment
Health insurance from day 1, gym memberships, recharge leave and regular health checks
Learning opportunities through Reforge, CoachHub, global conferences, libraries and mentoring
Company events, team-buildings, workations and milestone gifts
