Description

Fully remote smart contract development role on a 24-month engagement building the open-source DeFi foundations of an institutional blockchain. The engineer delivers production-ready reference implementations such as a privacy-preserving DEX, lending protocol and cross-chain stablecoin settlement, plus a contracts library for Daml. The team works AI-native, with developers owning workstreams end-to-end alongside security researchers and external auditors.

Responsibilities

Own features of the Contracts Library for Daml end to end, from design through audit, such as Timelock, access control, vaults, or token standard support
Design and implement components of the year-1 Reference Implementations: privacy-preserving DEX, lending protocol, cross-chain stablecoin settlement, and confidential auction launchpad
Implement and shepherd the Daml versions of CIP-56, CIP-86, CIP-103, and future CIPs, coordinating with Digital Asset and ChainSafe
Present and defend designs in technical discussions with Digital Asset, the Canton Foundation, and other partners
Work with security researchers on threat models, audit preparation, and fixes for the components you own
Use AI systems as core daily tools for research, design, implementation, testing, and security work, building agents, skills, and workflows
Contribute developer-experience and security feedback upstream into the Canton protocol, Splice, the Daml SDK, and the Splice Wallet Kernel
Research privacy-preserving DeFi, multi-party authorization patterns, and Canton-specific primitives, and share learnings with the team

Requirements

Production Daml fluency including templates, choices, controllers, observers, signatories, and multi-party authorization patterns
Canton architecture depth covering Global Synchronizer, private synchronizers, transaction privacy, and smart contract upgrades
3+ years of smart contract development in production on Canton or similar UTXO-based privacy architecture
Production DeFi experience shipping AMMs, vaults, lending protocols, or cross-chain settlement with security awareness
Security-first mindset: build secure code by default and review Daml code adversarially for vulnerabilities
AI-native workflow with Claude Code, Cursor, or equivalent as a daily driver for development work
Fluency in client-facing communication in English
Autonomy and proactivity in owning workstreams end to end (nice to have)
Cryptography or financial-engineering background (nice to have)
Institutional finance and compliance design experience covering custody flows, attestation, and RWA tokenization (nice to have)
Experience running an SV, contributing to Splice internals, governance, or Canton Coin tokenomics (nice to have)
Cross-chain interoperability exposure with protocols like Chainlink CCIP, LayerZero, Wormhole, or Axelar (nice to have)
Library and SDK API design experience building reusable, import-first developer libraries (nice to have)
Experience applying AI to security work such as audits, vulnerability research, fuzzing, and static analysis (nice to have)
Hands-on experience with non-EVM ecosystems like Starknet, Stellar/Soroban, Arbitrum Stylus, Aptos, and Move (nice to have)
Open-source contributions to widely-used libraries in the smart-contract or AI-tooling space (nice to have)

Conditions

Fully remote work with flexibility from anywhere
Flexible time off policy
8 weeks of paid leave for primary caregivers and 4 weeks for secondary caregivers
One-time $3,600 baby bonus for growing families
Up to $500 of equipment support for a home office
Medical insurance coverage
Learning and development opportunities for continuous growth
Monthly stipend for a preferred co-working space
Company gatherings with teammates around the world
