Description

OneSpan is hiring a founding AI Automation Engineer to embed with R&D teams and remove manual, repetitive work using agentic AI, scripting and tooling. The role spans finding bottlenecks, prioritising with team managers, shipping automations end-to-end and handing them over documented and monitored so teams can own them. It is the first hire in this space, with the upside to grow into leading a small AI adoption team.

Responsibilities

Shadow R&D teams to learn how work flows and find bottlenecks
Rank automation opportunities by how often they happen and how much they cost
Agree priorities with each team's manager and protect time for the work
Design and ship automations end-to-end, agent-first where judgment and language matter
Build with the team and hand over documented, monitored, maintainable automations
Set the standard for AI adoption and grow a small 2–3 person team

Requirements

Deep, current knowledge of agentic AI tools, patterns and limits
Empirical judgment about when a simple script beats an agent
Strong generalist fluent across backend, scripting, CI/CD and tooling
Ability to spot repetitive manual tasks and weigh frequency against cost
Collaborative approach: embed with teams and build alongside them
Product / platform mindset treating engineers' time as the product
Fluent in English (essential) for working with the teams

Conditions

Rare greenfield mandate defining how the organization adopts agentic AI
Freedom to bring the right tools beyond the current stack
Beautiful office in the heart of Barcelona with regular team events
Good public transport connections
Flexible working hours and hybrid working
