Indeed

Description

A preventive health membership company is hiring its first App Developer to turn an existing member web portal into an installable app on iOS and Android, launched on both platforms at the same time. This zero-to-one role spans architecture, App Store and Play Store approval, REST API integration, engagement features and a member-facing biological age score platform. The developer partners with a Product Designer, the CTO, founders and a scientific team, using AI natively across scaffolding, code review, testing and documentation. The position is hybrid in Manchester, reporting to the CTO.

Responsibilities

Build and ship the first app across iOS and Android, from architecture to App Store and Play Store approval
Decide where native is essential (login, HealthKit, push, store compliance) and where web views do the job faster
Integrate with the existing REST API and data model, and help shape the API as the app's needs become clear
Build engagement into the product with notifications, check-ins and weekly reasons to return
Build the member-facing experience of a novel multi-source biological age score
Turn large volumes of biomarker and trend data into screens that inform without overwhelming
Work with the scientific team so the app stays rigorous while staying simple
Partner with the Product Designer from first sketch to shipped feature
Work with the CTO on technical and UX decisions, and with the founders on functionality
Back decisions with data, where the best evidence wins
Use AI natively across scaffolding, code review, testing and documentation
Deliver both apps live, approved and launched together
Keep the codebase simple, scalable and easy to adjust
Build features with commercial outcomes in mind, not just technical elegance

Requirements

Track record of shipping consumer-facing apps that real users relied on, going back several years
Experience taking an app from zero to live, ideally owning the build end to end
Practical experience getting apps through App Store and Play Store review
Experience presenting large amounts of data in a clear and engaging way
Fluency with AI tooling, built on fundamentals learned before it existed
Commercial awareness: building for scale and adaptability, not for its own sake
Comfort in a small, very fast-moving team where things change quickly
Bonus: a successful wellness, health or fitness app
Bonus: native iOS or Android depth and cross-platform frameworks such as Flutter or React Native
Bonus: HealthKit or Health Connect integrations and data-heavy apps like fintech or gaming
Bonus: being an early or first engineer at a startup

Conditions

Hybrid work format in Manchester, reporting to the CTO
Free membership plus a family and friends discount
25 days holiday plus bank holidays
Pension and annual learning budget
