Description

A German software company with over 14 years of experience building custom software for mid-sized businesses, public authorities and critical infrastructure operators. The team is looking for an experienced PHP developer to build new applications end to end, take long-term responsibility for running systems and bring legacy applications up to date. Work uses a modern stack with Laravel, Livewire, MySQL, Redis, Docker, FrankenPHP, Caddy and Azure/AWS, following Scrum with DevOps boards and code reviews. The role is a full-time on-site position in Berlin-Mitte with a long-term development path toward Lead Developer and CTO.

Responsibilities

Develop varied custom software from A to Z
Implement REST APIs and interfaces to specialist procedures and third-party systems
Take long-term responsibility for running applications: updates, security patches, performance optimization and monitoring
Work with a modern stack: Laravel, Livewire, MySQL, Redis, Docker, FrankenPHP, Caddy, Azure/AWS
Work according to Scrum with DevOps boards and do code reviews in the team
Coordinate directly with long-standing customers

Requirements

Completed training as an IT specialist for application development, an IT degree or a comparable qualification
At least two years of professional experience in PHP development
Significant involvement in at least two PHP software projects that are or were in productive use
Very good knowledge of Laravel, including Eloquent, Queues and Testing
Experience with at least one JavaScript framework such as Vue.js, React or Alpine.js
Confident handling of MySQL and clean database design
Docker Compose as part of daily developer routine, experience with Kubernetes is a plus
Experience with Azure or AWS is a plus
Routine Git workflow with pull requests and code reviews
Experience with REST APIs and interfaces to third-party systems
Eagerness for lifelong learning: new technologies, programming languages and frameworks
Reliability, independent working style and hands-on mentality
German language skills at C1 level, as German is the project language with most customers
