Description

A London-based fintech and SaaS group building technology for regulated financial services, AI, cybersecurity and data is hiring an Angular frontend developer. The Angular frontend is core to a fintech platform that is replacing a legacy system, and the new developer will own its architecture, state management, component structure and testing strategy together with an existing Angular developer. The team is AI-first: engineers use tools such as Claude Code daily and build internal agentic tooling, while collaborating closely with a Python/AWS backend team and business users. The position is full-time and office-based at London Bridge with pay of £40,000–£60,000 per year.

Responsibilities

Own architectural decisions for the Angular codebase: state management, component structure, performance and testing strategy
Work closely with the existing Angular developer to shape the application's design and implementation
Collaborate with the Python/AWS backend team on API design and data contracts
Use AI coding tools as a core part of the workflow and set conventions and guardrails for AI-assisted code
Keep the codebase maintainable as the platform grows and replaces the legacy system
Work with business users to understand requirements and turn them into technical ones
Estimate, plan and deliver own work and explain technical decisions clearly to non-technical colleagues
Contribute to internal agentic systems and tooling for collaboration between agents and developers

Requirements

Competent with modern Angular (v19+, Signals, RxJS–Signals interop), RxJS and TypeScript
1–3 years of commercial frontend development experience with Angular
Ownership of architectural decisions such as state management, component structure and testing on at least one Angular project
A 2:1 or above (or equivalent) in a scientific or technical subject
Daily hands-on use of AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex or Cursor with judgement to review and correct their output
Experience with Git, GitHub and an issue tracker such as YouTrack, Jira or Azure DevOps
Experience with AWS or another cloud platform, or a Python backend framework such as FastAPI or Django
Experience inheriting or significantly restructuring an existing codebase
Familiarity with frontend testing frameworks such as Vitest, Jest, Playwright or Cucumber
Working with design systems such as Figma or equivalent
Object-oriented and/or functional programming experience
Comfortable working on Unix-based systems such as macOS
