Freenow is seeking a Backend Engineer to join their Driver Engagement Team in Barcelona, focusing on building systems to enhance driver engagement and quality of service. The role involves working in a cross-functional team to deliver impactful features for millions of users.

Responsibilities

Own the feature from idea to deployment
Design and develop systems based on requirements
Maintain and improve existing systems
Collaborate in an Agile environment
Write high-quality automated tests
Review code and contribute to best practices
Participate in incident response and documentation

Requirements

Passionate about Kotlin or Java
Experience with Spring Boot or similar frameworks and automated tests
Familiarity with monitoring tools like Grafana or Datadog
Knowledge of microservices architecture
Keen about scalable web application principles
Familiar with messaging using Kafka or RabbitMQ
Excellent communication skills in English
