Description

Senior product design role at a global media publisher, shaping digital reading and games experiences across web and apps. The designer works on gameplay itself plus the journeys around it — discovery, onboarding, progress and returning to play — combining visual and interaction craft with clear product thinking. Collaboration is close with design leads, product managers, engineers, researchers and editorial partners, and AI tools and prototyping are part of the evolving practice.

Responsibilities

Design games and the experiences around them, from gameplay and feedback to discovery, onboarding, progress and returning to play
Connect reading and play to lasting habits and the wider reader experience, defining what is worth solving and how success is measured
Translate distinctive brand identities into clear, engaging interfaces with care for typography, hierarchy, layout and interaction
Use prototypes to explore behaviour, timing, motion and feedback and to refine interaction details
Run lightweight usability testing and partner with UX Research when deeper investigation is needed
Work with shared components, patterns and design tokens and contribute reusable solutions
Collaborate with engineers on feasibility, interaction details, edge cases and visual QA through implementation
Explore where AI tools can add value to the design practice and share learnings with the team
Use analytics and qualitative feedback to connect design decisions to engagement, repeat use and retention
Communicate thinking clearly, participate in critique and support other designers

Requirements

Typically 5+ years in product or interaction design, or equivalent experience demonstrated through your work
Strong visual and interaction design skills with particular care for typography, detail and quality of the finished experience
Confident in Figma and interactive prototyping
Comfortable working with design systems, tokens and technical constraints
Familiar with AI tools and experience of using them in design practice
Ability to turn an ambiguous problem into a clear direction and make sensible scope and priority decisions
Using research, analytics and qualitative feedback to inform design decisions
Building strong relationships with product, engineering and editorial partners and explaining reasoning to different perspectives
Interest in editorial products, puzzles and games and what makes people return over time
Experience designing consumer digital products
Portfolio showing contribution to real digital products, the decisions made and how the work developed
