Description

A cloud-native contact center platform provider is strengthening its internal engineering team and hiring a Senior QA Engineer for the Message Squad, which builds multi-channel text communications across email, voicemail, SMS and social networks. The role owns test strategy and automated coverage written in Kotlin and Gherkin across UI, backend API and RabbitMQ integration levels, following a testing pyramid and a shift-left approach. QA engineers join feature planning from the earliest stages, challenge designs from a risk and testability perspective, and share coverage responsibilities with frontend and backend teams. The squad currently consists of 3 QA engineers, 7 backend developers, 2 frontend engineers and 1 team lead.

Responsibilities

Co-design test strategies with the team for new features and refactorings
Implement and maintain automated tests in Kotlin at multiple levels of the testing pyramid
Challenge designs and technical solutions from a risk and testability perspective
Continuously improve pipelines, tooling and test reliability
Write UI tests, backend API tests and e2e tests for critical user journeys
Produce and consume RabbitMQ events to validate integration points

Requirements

Minimum 6 years of experience, among which at least 3 recent years as a test automation engineer using Java, Kotlin, Groovy or Scala
Strong coding skills in a JVM language, ideally Kotlin or Java, with the ability to read production code and review merge requests
Strong system-level and architectural thinking about how services interact and how data flows through the system
Hands-on experience building test suites across the testing pyramid: unit, component, API, contract, integration and UI/e2e
A mindset opposite to covering everything with system-level e2e tests, preferring fast and reliable checks close to the code
Experience working with CI/CD pipelines, ideally GitLab CI, test reporting and quality gates
At least 1 year of experience with Selenium
Experience with UI, API and database testing
Critical thinking and a bug hunter attitude: actively looking for edge cases, failure modes and real user behaviour
High curiosity and willingness to dive deep into infrastructure, messaging, integrations and the deployment pipeline
Strong autonomy and leadership potential
Excellent communication skills, proactivity and self-learning

Conditions

Full-time employment
Flexible work arrangements and remote work options
Collaborative and innovative team environment
Work on cutting-edge distributed communication systems
Real ownership of quality for a core domain of the platform
Career growth opportunities within a fast-growing global company
A supportive team that values innovation and knowledge-sharing
Five-stage recruitment process: HackerRank challenge, background review, live coding, test strategy interview and final interview
